The word 'Fire' never left the human with the rifle's mouth. Instead, a shriek of surprise filled the air, as he was thrown off balance by a swift blow to the side of his arm, by a young boy wielding a 2x4. The blow knocked the rifle from the man's hand, and another blow to the gun, broke it into 3 pieces. The advantages of a wooden gun- light weight, easy to carry and manoeuvre, disadvantage- easy to break. The second hunter had a split second to react. His partner already running in the opposite direction, clutching the wooden trigger, all that was left of his hunting rifle. He could stand and fight it out.. or he could retreat. He could use his partners injuries as an excuse. Sounds better than running away from two young vermin. It was an risky excuse. But one he was willing to take. He ran. The young boy, dropped the 2x4.. and tried to decide whether to stay or go..

Demi stared at the young boy. Her mind was reeling and she didn't know what to do or say at that moment. Everything was dark and she couldn't see the who had just rescued her. Her throat was dry but her curiosity was surging with thoughts. "W-Who are you?" her voice shook.

"You don't need to know that" The boy replied. The shadows covered his face. The 2x4 was still in his hand. He let it drop to the ground. "Better this way" He said.

Demi's eyes shifted to the 2x4 that dropped to the ground and then slowly looked back at the figure. She gulped and took a step forward, she could somewhat see the being but not enough to make out who it could be. "Step into the light."

The boy sighed and put his hands on his hips. "Bad idea..but fine.." The young slave boy nicknamed Vapour became visible in the light. He looked a little different to when he was working at the castle earlier. He was wearing a old beanie hat, and his vest shirt was torn and ragged. He was sporting odd bits of material wrapped around his wrists and hands. He wore big dark brown boots, that looked like he'd travelled miles. Vapours eyes were showing a different look. Reserved. Shy.. curious.

Demi held back her gasp as she realized that familiar scruffed up face back at the prince's castle. She blinked curiously at the boy, "Why-Why did you save me?" She stared at him with eyes of interest and gratitude rather then stingy and spoiled.

Vapour looked down at the ground and shook his head. "Don't know" His eyes lifted and connected with Demi's. "I usually do rounds around the castle at night. There's a lot of human activity around here. The royal family don't know. Better that way really. I knew when I saw you leave, that you weren't aware of the dangers. Guess it was right to follow you" Vapour smirked and stuck his hands behind his head. "Besides.. let's face facts. Haildukes a nice guy.. but he's not all that clued up on the fighting way of life"

Demi smirked, "Tell me about it. He should take some lessons from you instead." she laughed. She blinked and then looked at the ground. She never thought she would be laughing along with a peasant. She looked back up at Vapour, "D-Do you..uhm, mind walking me all the way home?"

Vapour smirked.. "Yeah.. he's happy not knowing what's out in the dark.." He glanced at the floor as he considered Demi's request. "Okay then" Vapour reached down and picked up the 2x4. He measured the distance..and then hurled it long and hard into the forest.

Demi stared at him as he did so and then turned around to continue walking back to her home. "So where did you come from? Or have you always been with Hailduke?"

The ground was dusty, and as Vapour turned back to face Demi a small cloud of dust raised with a scuff of his boot. "For a while. I'm his servant. But not in the conventional sense" Vapour said, skirting round the point as he tried to work out whether he should say more. "I was raised.. as his.. unspoken bodyguard. Guess you could call it that.."

Demi looked at Vapour, he had a mysteriously aura about him. Something that interested Demi. "That sounds pretty cool." she smirked, "You must be tough as stone then.." she internally smacked herself on the forehead for the stupid remark and turned the other cheek to hide her embarrassed expression.

Vapour glanced across at Demi as she turned to avoid his eyes. She was a princess. Yet.. she had no higher attitude at this point in time. She was speaking frankly. She was different. "Anybody can be tough, given the right situation" He responded, openly, as his gaze fell back in front of him. "Some people fight. Some people talk. I was never very good at the latter, I guess." They carried on walking. "What's your interest in the prince, anyway? Word on the servants lips is that you're.. interested in each other..?"

Demi face forward and her eyes dropped to the ground as they kept on walking. The pavement changed from rocky pebbles to smooth concrete which felt better on her feet. She sighed, "We were arranged." she said simply, "Both of our families are fairly close and figured since we are both born from royalty, might as well marry royalty."

Vapour nodded his head. "Figured they'd be some royal involvement in there one way or another" He looked over in the direction of Demi. "That why you're teaching him to be all prim and proper?"
